I always get nostalgic around New Year’s. I also do my best to tidy-up the office. The two came together today, as I found a copy of CAREERXROADS from 1999. Great read for us industry nerds.

Which to share? Well, since they’ve just redesigned their Web site (and hit a 12-month stock low), checkout the review Monster got way back in the day, when it was known as The Monster Board.

The Monster Board grew tremendously in the past year, and continues to be one of the top choices among recruiting professionals. Alliances with Yahoo, Excite, AOL, Medscape, Workforce Online, PlanetAll and the American Society for Quality (to name a few) helps to drive traffic and keep its name in the forefront. Sixty day job postings are $175, and are listed by locations and/or a category. Many other packages are available. The Monster Board claims to have over 75,000 job seekers visit each day as well as 50,000 job openings and 250,000 or 350,000 resumes depending on the page you read. Recruiters can view the site’s resume database for $4,900 per year. They can also have “Cruiter” search the database weekly and e-mail candidate matches back to your office. For job seekers “Swoop” is you personal agent. When you register your profile you will then receive e-mail messages of positions that match your interest. Resume contact data can be kept confidential. Several hundred companies have links/banners to their job pages for applicants to view. Site is owned by TMP, a recruitment advertising firm.

Ah, the good ol’ days. Someone pass the Korn.
