Rumor has it Monster Worldwide (MNST) CEO Sal Iannuzzi treated American hero Colin Powell like a real second-class citizen when introducing the general at their North American Sales Conference, apparently going on this week.
According to an anonymous source:
Sal introduces Colin Powell in 8 seconds. Here is a guy who has done some amazing things and all Sal says is, ‘Welcome to the conference, we have a special guest tonight – here he is, general Colin Powell.’
Colin Powell then walks out and abuses Sal for his introduction. He goes, ‘That’s it? That’s my introduction? Here he is?!?!?’ Powell then goes on to say, ‘I’m standing behind the door, figuring my introduction will be 3 maybe 4 minutes, then 8 seconds later, Here he is.’
The crowd is said to have had a good laugh at the spectacle.
Now, I know Sal’s not the most articulate CEO, but come on. If true, don’t they have some PR people left over there? They didn’t have a few minutes to write-up an appropriate intro?
Or maybe they were just laid off too?

Perhaps Monster needs a new CEO. I’d say Iannuzzi should start looking for a new job on Monster but we all know no one really uses that job board anyway.

Like I said before, if your calling is to be a “financial advisor” it’s a great site – seems like the only job listed.

I said the other day that the tone of the internal layoff email was creepy- but then again, if you lie your country into a botched war, your notices may suffer……

“American hero Colin Powell”
Liars are heroes. The new definition.
