Kim Peters of Eluta.ca and WorkopolisKim Peters, founder of well-known Canadian job board Workopolis, has joined vertical job search engine Eluta.ca as its president and CEO.

Says Peters,

I am excited to be leading Eluta.ca, as it brings search engine marketing into the field of recruitment. I was fortunate to be present when recruitment advertising began migrating from print advertising to online job boards.

Now I see the same transition happening today, as specialized search engines like Eluta.ca gradually replace the traditional job boards. Increasingly, employers and job-seekers want to be connected directly and don’t need costly intermediaries.

Prior to launching Workopolis in January 2000, she helped create GlobeCareers.com and most recently, she served as VP of recruitment advertising at CanWest MediaWorks, where she oversaw the creation of Working.com. Peters was replaced at Workopolis in 2003 by current president Pat Sullivan.

Launched in 2006, Eluta.ca is a vertical job search engine that serves results from Canadian employers directly. It also contains exclusive data and editorial content from its publications. The site makes money via advertising revenue.

Hey, eluta.ca doesn’t look anything like indeed.com, does it? nah….

Eluta’s search interface may look similar to Indeed’s, or even Google’s. The difference, however, is that all the jobs on Eluta.ca are indexed directly from the employers’ websites — no job board or agency postings are included. The vast majority of jobs found on Indeed and similar aggregators are from job boards and headhunters, whereas Eluta.ca includes only direct-employer positions.

Either this or that — Indeed is pulling in from the job boards & Eluta brings in private listing. JobArray! happens to place itself right in the middle. It brings in the job boards & the private companies. The difference is that both Eluta & Indeed or its copycat (Wowjobs) need RSS/XML feed in order to bring in the new job listings. They are at the merci of the content providers. On the other hand, JobArray doesn’t require any RSS/XML feed. This means that companies can be added to its robot without any wait. JobArray doesn’t see any value in the short description of each job, it only keeps the job title and the hot link. JobArray also updates its database on hourly basis. JobArray’s interface is very simple yet powerful. Hope this helps.
