I work for an Internet property that Monster used to invest heavily in with online media. They have decreased quite a bit over the past year and cancelled all together a short time ago. They blamed it on the offline marketing investments.....ie. the commercials. I don't get it. Monster is an online destination. You tell me....it is easier for people to reach their site via the Internet or the TV? Doesn't seem like rocket science to me. I have posed this scenario to other online properties that invest heavily in online media and they are stumped as well. Not saying commercials are a bad thing but to sacrifice your bread and butter for a few primetime ads seems backwards to me.
