simply hired first (and only?) job app on myspace

News

Not surprisingly, MySpace partner Simply Hired is the first job site to launch an application on the popular social network via OpenSocial.

There are only 14 installs so far, but it’s very early. We’ll see if more job seekers jump on board in the months to come. If Facebook is any precedent, few MySpacers will add job-related apps to their accounts.

In its short history, most job site owners will tell you Facebook apps for employment have been a big waste of time. Therefore, I’d be surprised if many boards follow Simply Hired into this endeavor.

Granted, this will probably fail due to the already saturated online job search market. Also, I think people generally go to MySpace and Facebook to get away from their day to day jobs. It’s almost an alternate reality or second life.

Still, this is the great thing about capitalism and an open market. The competition keeps things very interesting.
