More details have emerged about CareerTV’s monthly show. The first 30-minute show will launch in April and premier on stations at several colleges, such as Columbia, NYU, U. of Texas and U. of Chicago. The show will also be run on CareerTV.
They will be distributed on a mixture of broadcast, cable, video-on-demand, and closed-circuit television systems on or around 25 college campuses nationwide. They are currently in distribution negotiations with major networks for carriage.
Time slots vary according the programming schedule of carriage partners. Some partners plan to play the show weekly. Others, like Drexel University in Philadelphia, plan to the play the show around the clock on a plasma TV in its career services center while playing it once a week on their TV network.
“Producing this show is a great way to expand our audience and our video content and will serve to solidify our position as the No. 1 site for recruitment videos,” says Jim Buttimer, CEO.
Featured in the first show will be PricewaterhouseCoopers, the U.S. State Department, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs. Companies do no pay to be featured. Oscar award-winner Tom Hanks also gets face time, revealing lessons from his first job.
Diversity will be a feature of the first show. Says Sean O’Grady, anchor and executive producer, “Every employer will claim to be diverse, but we wanted to pull back the curtain and see what the nation’s top employers are truly doing to attract and retain diverse talent.”
Future topics include “Most Socially Responsible Employers,” “Best Rotational and Leadership Development Programs,” “Top Engineering Employers,” “Top MBA Employers,” “Top Healthcare Employers,” “Top Government Employers,” “Top Internship Programs,” and “Best Employers for Women.”
CareerTV currently claims to have over 500 videos. These encompass a mixture of employer profiles, instructional and educational content, Q & A, career news segments, people profiles, event profiles, and job / industry outlooks. Approximately 5 – 7 videos are added each week.
