If you haven’t checked out Dan Schawbel’s Personal Branding, I encourage you to do so. It’s a variety of, you guessed it, personal branding advice from experts, which comes in handy to any of us hoping to get an advantage on the competition in the world of Brand You. They also have some pretty interesting interviews with the most influential among us.

Personal BrandingThis month, the mag interviews Jobfox CEO and founder of CareerBuilder, Rob McGovern. Most interestingly, when asked about the future of online recruitment, McGovern said, “In its day, the job board was a major innovation. For the first time, the job board provided a comprehensive online directory of jobs, which was far better than the old model of sending a blind cover letter … Unfortunately, job boards also gave employers the ability to reject candidates at electron-speed velocity. In short, job boards have turned professionals into commodities.”

The magazine was also nice enough to ask me how I would change life for recruiters if I had a magic wand, and I said something about eliminating the barriers set before HR pros in the form of IT, legal and marketing departments. At least that’s how I remember it anyway.
