YouTube has been gradually adding pop-up style advertisements in their videos for awhile, but this is the first case I’ve seen of MySpace doing it. No surprise, it’s for everywhere-online advertiser, the University of Phoenix.
This particular ad showed up on the National Geographic page and makes its appearance about 10 seconds in and turns into a navigational tab after 5 seconds or so. Clicking on the MySpace video advertisement takes you to a commercial that cannot be paused or fast forwarded.
The cost of such advertising is not published. Those interested must fill out an online form to be contacted by a sales rep. The targeting of such ads is anyone’s guess.
