A new social networking solution for the online recruiting space called Zumeo is now in public beta for B to B networking. The official launch is set for June 2008.
According to the company’s blog, “Recruiters will be able to search and save Live Resumés™ and network with other professionals. A Live Business Profile™ is free to build and customize, yet we are charging to activate it within the Zumeo community. Early activation will allow a business the ability to post jobs for free, build a fan base, and promote their team.”
The company was founded and is run by Jared Booye, an industry unknown in his 20s hailing from Medford, Oregon and a graduate of the Oregon Institute of Technology. His blog now redirects to Zumeo, but you can catch it in Google’s cache if you hurry. Everyone else associated with the company seems to be of a similar background and experience level in regards to the employment space.
There is a database of jobs exclusive to Zumeo, however, secondary results are served by Simply Hired. There’s also a Zumeo Facebook Group. A brief initial tour of the site after joining reveals nothing all that remarkable. Granted, the site is in beta, so we’ll concede a grace period, but it feels a little too much like a Jobster-wannabe.
And we know how that story’s turning out.

So what is the best tool for passive candidate searches?
I’ve read a few of your blogs and they all seem to be very negative, have you thought about a more positive feel or is “negative” your thing.
In the above blog, you pseudo rip on two companies, but I get nothing for a solution.
I think you might be more Perez Hilton of the HR World, as far as a resource is concerned, more negative gossip and little content. That’s no slam on Perez, HE’S entertaining at least.

Thanks, “Bryan” of Jobster. No hard feelings … your company used to be entertaining too.

Now with thousands of hours of research and honest conversations with companies, recruiters and GenY job seekers (not to mention much work on usability and design) http://www.Zumeo.com has relaunched what we know is a beautiful solution for connecting young professionals and great companies.
Even so, I hope we never lose the tag of “industry outsider”, as often the greatest products and solutions come from those without the bias and group think “insiders” can fall victims to.
I think Zumeo has earned a second look, granted I am a little bias:)
