News

Yahoo! HotJobs has confirmed Chris Merritt, formerly of Monster China, is their new SVP of sales. He replaces Tom Karrat, now at Mimeo, who left HotJobs in August 2007.

According to his LinkedIn profile, while at Monster, he was a “Worldwide Executive from North America currently on assignment in China, tasked with Go-to-Market management in Greater China. Deep background in driving large sales teams, go-to-market leadership and P&L management in North America, Europe and Asia.”

This highlights yet another Monster executive who has bailed in just the past few months. That fact that this one jumped ship to go to a major competitor puts additional salt in the wound.

It’s also an intriguing loss considering the popular opinion and fact that Monster is making significant strides in China, underscored by the recent investment in ChinaHR.

Merritt has been onboard with HotJobs “for a few weeks.” He had overseen Monster China since Jan. 2008 but had been with Monster Worldwide (MNST) since 2003, per LinkedIn.

It’s not an intriguing loss – Merritt left because the CEO put an old friend of his, Ed Lo, in place in the same job.
