Almost every job board has something different to offer. Examples being; ranking, free sourcing or posting, update fees, candidate mining specialties….the list is endless to say the least. When I hear about a new job board or newly released features I purchase them and after a while I find out that I need something else.

CrossXroads annual reports on sources of hire from 2007-2005 are:

		2007 2006 2005

	Referrals	28.2% 26.6% 27.1%
	Job Boards	25.7% 33.0% 24.8%

It is hard to compare between both referrals and job boards in the hiring process, but I wouldn’t bee the least bit surprised to see these two categories battle it out for the next two years.

Timothy -- leading with a registration button is not Google-like and it is not simplification. It's the kiss of death. Imagine if you had to register to use Google.

Quantcast traffic according to Quantcast –

Craigslist – 28 million
Realmatch – 485,000
Jobvertise – 256,000
Postforfree – 240,000
Thejobspider – 54,000

I think we all know the limitation with craigslit is that all the geographic regions are segmented...good conversation!

How did you pick free job board leaders?
If you take a look at the traffic, then the leaders are:
1) CraigsList.com
2) JobVertise.com
3) PostJobFree.com

TheJobSpider.com is significantly behind. LuckyDogJobs.com and Doostang.com have almost no traffic.
Check the traffic on www.quantcast.com

i just re-read my comment.

'sick' was an overstatement but i am, 'tired' of every start up saying they're going to be 'disruptive'.

id like to see a little less more humility and a little less hot air from startups.

fair?

im disruptive. how long can you call yourself a startup anyway ?

on topic-how much of the recruiting process turns on the matchmaking aspect ?

on high value jobs you arent swimming in candidates at any point anyway

agreed on Google's radical simplicity model. Same point cuts the other way: Google did not mess with the data very much- what you typed is what you got. "You cant trust machines to do a doctor's job Jim"

Eric - I am skeptical of new things too but didnt google get the same crticism for just having a search box on their page with no other stuff? Google changed the game by changing the page layout and removing the garbage. I dont know if my company would approve a new vendor, we just use monster and since its not my money, I dont really care.

I don't see how any website that leads with a "start here" button can succeed. What's the motivation to go through a sign-up process just to find out whether or not this website has more than a handful of jobs and employers that are relevant to the user?
