jobing employee gas policy draws great publicity

Tue, May 20, 2008

News

Congrats to Jobing for pulling off a marketing coup in light of their company policy of providing gas to “about 60 percent” of their employees. (It’s an incentive-based system that also pays a $500 stipend on top of 100 percent gas reimbursement).

Granted, you have to drive around in a car covered in semi-dorky Jobing paraphernalia, but at $4-gallon-gas, it’s probably worth it.

The job board was recently featured on:

1. Good Morning America (and below)
2. Forbes
3. The Wall Street Journal (print version here)

No idea what Jobing spends on gas for employees, but PR like this sure helps make up for that cost. Yeah, and it’s a pretty good employee retention and advertising tool too.

GO JOBING!!! I take exception to our brand being referred to as “semi-dorky,” since I cannot tell you how many of my friends/acquaintances have asked if we’d wrap their cars too! Thanks for the kudos though Cheez!

  2. A Jobing who has a wrapped car and loves it!! Says:

Other than being very cool and a very loud fashion statement, it makes life easier on my kids to spot the car in a crowded parking lot!! Thanks Cheese!! On a serious note, it drives the message home that we are in the local market! It is a point of pride that we work for such a outside the box type of organization who values the brand and trusts us in taking it home every night……and even park the car in our driveway without the HOA giving a hard time about it!!!

  3. Living the Dream! Says:

As a Jobing “Peep” I’m proud to drive/wear/live our colors! Initially my 15 y.o. daughter was taken aback (stunned) now she loves it… my 11 y.o. son thinks its way cool! Gas aside, how many people out there feel the same way about their company! Go Jobing!

  4. Jobing Around Town Says:

Thanks Cheez! And everytime I fill up my tank and that total is higher and higher I say “Thank you Jobing!”
It’s so fun having one of these cars…my clients call up to tell me that they saw me or a team member out on the road- it helps them know we are really all about town working for them.
I also can’t stop at a gas station without jobseekers coming up to me saying “I need a job!” which allows me to see the faces of the people our company helps everyday…I LOVE it! My family even has a “go jobing” diddy they sing sometimes when we’re on trips in the Jobing-mobile because they have so much fun traveling in our little “cartoon car”…it’s a blast!
    Go Jobing!

Brilliant, moving advertising and social responsibility in one. I wonder how long it will take for other companies to benchmark the idea. I don’t have a car but if I was to get a cut on my bus and train fair by carrying around a company umbrella or coat, I most likely would.

Update: This story was picked up by CNN last week, and Aaron (our Founder and CEO) was interviewed on Fox Business Network about the program as well! We’re all very excited about the attention. Guess there’s no more “under the radar” for us…. :)
