Looks like we can start adding HotJobs (wiki – search) to the growing list of job sites getting into the candidate matching game. With its new HotHire, officially launched today, Y! is adding real-time candidate recommendations to employers, which are generated as job listings are posted.
According to a release, “With the introduction of HotHire, recruiters can jumpstart their urgent candidate searches by receiving real-time recommendations from Yahoo! HotJobs based on the information in their job listings. Users can modify HotHire’s search criteria without changing the job description and use HotHire across all of their open positions according to their specific hiring needs. HotHire’s matching technology is tuned to over 100,000 job titles, thereby helping recruiters find the best candidate matches across geographies and job categories.
“While competitors can take several minutes, or even hours to provide a single batch of candidate results once a job is posted, HotHire leverages Yahoo! search technology to provide top job seeker resume matches as qualified candidates matching their criteria add their resume to the database. HotHire is a subscription-based product that is similar to Yahoo! HotJobs’ job recommender feature for job seekers, and automatically emails recruiters targeted candidate matches which eliminates the need to log-in each day to view new results.”
HotHire is being touted by Yahoo! as an evolution to its R.E.A.L. initiative, which serves up job content based on Yahoo!’s Web search engine technology, as opposed to merely the date of a posting. HotHire is also available to its newspaper partners.
We’re scheduled to do a follow-up on HotHire next week at SHRM, so stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, you can checkout more on HotHire here, here and here.

Great news to match targeted jobs with job seekers. That’s what we all need to do is create better career matches for ourselves so we can use our skills and talents in our work.
