We recently noticed JobDig growing into states previously unoccupied by the niche job board targeting local markets. What used to encompass a small footprint in the middle of the country, now bleeds into places westward and southward. So, we gave head ‘Digger Toby Dayton a shout to see what was going on.

Says Dayton, “We’ve launched five markets this year, including AZ (Tucson), UT (Salt Lake City), TX (Amarillo), AR (Little Rock), & TN (Chattanooga). In each market, we are publishing a local edition of JobDig (our free weekly jobs paper), partnering with local radio and TV to deliver broadcast media powered classifieds, and powering career center microsite(s) on local media web sites. We’re planning 5 more market launches before the end of the year which will bring us up to 20 markets.”

Dayton was also quick to focus on LinkUp, his JobCentral, Get The Job, [fill in the blank] competitor that aggregates content from direct employers only.

“LinkUp continues to grow at a phenomenal clip. We currently list jobs from over 9,000 company sites around the Web, and the number of jobs (which changes daily as the jobs come on and off the company sites we’re spidering) ranges from 250,000-500,000.

“Though I am biased, I firmly believe that LinkUp is the single best jobs site on the Web today. All the jobs are real, all the companies are real, all the jobs are current, and the search functionality is unbelievable because the average listing is two pages long with incredible amounts of data / keywords, etc. to search on. We have some very unique features (tabbed searches, for example) and are continuing to work on the site.”

Two sites to keep an eye on.
