Everyone seems to be launching Ning social networks these days. And why not? The sites serve as viral dynamos of unstoppable traffic growth and ongoing registrations leading to fat databases.
It’s no surprise to see job sites getting into the game. Enter HiredIn - no, not LinkedIn - HiredIn, by Employment Guide. (No, they don’t own HiredIn.com.)
The exact objective of the site is unclear at the moment, but according to Jack Webber, a regional manager for Employment Guide, that’s OK, saying, “At this point it is really nothing more then an exploratory process for us to gain some business intelligence.” Kinda like Jobalot, I guess.
Well, you can’t fault an organization for that, can you? They’re currently asking users to “Go ahead and post events, write blog posts, or create conversations on the site to build this site’s content.” Oh, and they’re having a logo contest too.
I suspect the dabbling into social networking for job sites - well, most sites - will continue in a similar fashion. And Ning is in a very good place to power this popular trend.
