Nap Town’s employment space got a little more crowded this week. Local niche job board JobDig continues to follow its growth plan by officially adding Indianapolis, Ind.
Head ‘Digger Toby Dayton says, “When we look at potential markets to expand into, we analyze roughly 50 variables and closely scrutinize about a dozen of those. Indianapolis scored very favorably on almost every single one of those 12 most critical elements, and we think it will be a terrific market for us.
“What we do when we launch a market is establish a thorough distribution network for our weekly jobs newspaper to make sure that job seekers are able to find a copy with relative ease. In each of our markets, we also establish partnerships with a local radio station ownership group and both local cable and network TV in order to allow employers to leverage broadcast media in their recruitment advertising.
“We will also partner with local media to establish a co-branded career center micro-site on their web site. So while we might, on occasion, do a direct mail or an out-of-home campaign, the vast majority of our exposure to employers and jobseekers is achieved through our print, web, radio, and TV media channels.”
Of the few jobs posted (22 as of this writing), all those tested went to a description summary - a la those infamous permalinks - with an application button tied to a LinkUp URL, a site owned by JobDig, which then goes to a company Web site.
Therefore, it’s fair to say JobDig is spidering job content for new markets. It’s also fair to say, then, that their ability to open new markets, hitting the ground running with spidered job content, increases significantly.
Then, yeah, it’s fair to say we’ll see the number of local job sites opening under the JobDig banner increase in the months to come. Growth is easy when you have spiders!
