NotchUp.com, the job site that pays people to go on interviews, recently launched the PIN System, which supplies members with a PIN number that they may give to recruiters who cold-call them. Recruiters can then view the job seeker’s profile, utilizing the number, on NotchUp.

I checked in with co-founder Rob Ellis to see how the site has fared since its launch in January and how these new features can help job seekers.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for the PIN?

We’ve had the idea for the PIN for a long time. When we demo-ed the site to people before our beta launch in January, a bunch of them asked us if there was a way to tell recruiters who cold called them to “contact me via NotchUp”.  We decided to wait until the site was officially launched for corporate users before launching the PIN feature. NotchUp serves as a virtual career agent for professionals, and the PIN lets members unlock the value in their resumes while preserving their privacy.

Q: Has the site been successful since its launch?

Our beta launch in January was a huge success. We have over 100,000 top quality professionals signed up and got a lot of good buzz. Just as important is the amount of interest we have gotten from employers interested in using the site. The companies that we selected to try the site during the beta made interview offers, interviewed candidates, and in some cases hired candidates they’d sourced via NotchUp. Overall feedback was very positive and useful.

While it’s early to declare our “official” launch a success (we only came out of beta a few weeks ago), the signs look very encouraging so far.  We recently released new features, the PIN for example, and have seen a good number of employers create accounts on the site.  The companies that are signing up to recruit on NotchUp come from a wide range of geographies and industries, which is key to our success.  We also just opened the corporate site up to independent recruiters, which is a big milestone for us.

Q: How do you think the creation of this new tool will effect NotchUp’s clients?

While some companies are already using NotchUp to directly contact hard-to-reach professionals without a PIN, we think that it will be a huge positive for companies and recruiters that haven’t heard of NotchUp or used NotchUp before go. The PIN will give them a way to get in touch with top-tier professionals who otherwise wouldn’t respond to cold calls and emails.

Q: What’s next on the agenda?

Stay tuned!
