A new professional social network, TransActions.ie, has launched in Ireland with claims that it encourages business-to-business transactions, unlike competitor LinkedIn, which TransAction’s manager of business development said “frowns upon” sales development within its network.
The manager, Peter Gaines, added, “TransActions.ie is openly about helping Irish companies to do business with each other, allowing them to find new customers and suppliers.”
According to an article on SiliconRepublic.com, the site uses matching functionality to pair businesses with ideal customers or suppliers on the site.
Gaines said there are many reasons why Irish companies will utilize TransActions over LinkedIn.
“With LinkedIn, it can take several weeks to accrue any real benefits from registering as you’re linking with people you already know. Secondly, 80 percent of people who subscribe to LinkedIn use it essentially as a social networking site – to get in contact with people they used to work with or were in school with. It’s nearly frowned upon if you try to push your business directly on the site.”
The site has been live for a month now. They’re also offering a free one-year subscription to drive traffic.
