I’ve seen a lot of job sites, especially since coming to work for Cheezhead, but this one takes the cake.

JobDrama.com is quite possibly the most cringe-worthy site I have visited in a long time. For starters, the logo is even more confusing than the site itself. And what’s with the Max Headroom dude droning on in the background?

Here’s a screen shot of the home page:

It’s a cool idea, but I think the web designer might want to go back to the drawing board on this one.

I really hope this is a publicity stunt to build traffic, links, and attention. After a couple of weeks, maybe they’ll launch their real site. That’s a hell of an idea, and the only excuse for a site like this.

  2. Lance Says:

I agree with Willy though I don’t have much hope for it.

    Good find Vanessa

  3. Ottayan Says:

Maybe they are trying to imitate google’s homepage with a spare look.

  4. Thorsten Says:

That´s no jobdrama, that´s a tragic website drama

  5. SteveF Says:

Seems like everyone is more concerned merely about how the site looks than the meaning behind it. I really had a hard time finding a job and I not only found a job, but I found tips and other advice to help improve my resume and do better in an interview.

Did you all even read? I guess you guys are more into bashing things than looking for real substance.

  6. JD Says:

Someone (maybe SteveF, since it sounds like he works there) might want to buy _HTML for Dummies_ and whack their web guy over the head with it. And, for good measure, please consider picking up a dictionary to finish the job (click “About Us” and check out the spelling of the URL: http://www.jobdrama.com//adoutus.php … lol!)

I think they should rename this site: http://www.JobDrama4HighSchoolDropoutz.com (psst, the “z” makes it extra cool … trust me).

  7. Benny Says:

What’s amazing is not only how atrocious the visual design is, but it appears that someone took quite a bit of time to write up a lot of meandering content, rife with spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors and inconsistencies. There’s also no indication of any authoritative HR, recruiting, or vocational counseling expertise, just poorly written generic advice. Given the items that appear in the “forums” listings, it appears that perhaps this site may be a phishing scam, to entrap unknowing job seekers to reveal their contact information, perhaps for identity theft or multi-level marketing schemes. I’ve never heard of people spending their lives trapped in “secular careers” but maybe I just learned something, perhaps a small clue as to who is behind this dubious job board.

  8. (SNA) Says:

JD, ironically, it’s apparently “powered” by “rsitez” –> http://www.rsitez.com/

Looks like maybe a Michigan University Student threw this together, Nova Yeoman 9117 Weddel Taylor, MI 48180 Phone: 1-313-529-0790 Email: novayeoman@yahoo.com

Maybe a trip up 75 for a video interview is in order?

  9. This is a start to a new trend. Shame on you SNA Says:

A JOB BOARD THAT WORKS FOR JOB SEEKERS! Great Idea!

All job boards out there are designed to work for employers, after all that is who pays for the their bills.

You guys can bash the simplicity of this site but look at craigslist.com. That is the most basic site with no bells and whistles and yet one of the most visited websites out there.

To Chris Duncan (SNA)… As the Director of Costumer Operations do you really think blasting someone’s personal information on the Internet a good way to represent your company CareerBuilder???

That is very unprofessional and your actions are a direct reflection of the company you represent.

  10. (SNA) Says:

Sir, all that information is publicly available in that site’s web advertising. Cheers,

  11. This is a start to a new trend. Shame on you SNA Says:

Actually NO his personal information is NOT advertised on the website. You took the time to look all that up by searching whom the domain name is registered to.

    That is pretty lame Chris!

It’s nice to know that CareerBuilder employees named Chris Duncan like posting peoples personal information on the Internet for the world to see. Makes me want to go upload my resume on CareerBuilder today (cough).

I would think that with all the heat CareerBuilder has had from the media regarding the security of personal information employees named Chris Duncan would be a little more professional.

Did I mention that was pretty lame? Way to go Chris, I hope you superiors see this.

    Cheers,

  12. Benny Says:

JobDrama has none of the simplicity of craigslist.org. JobDrama is quite cluttered with poorly chosen font sizes, boldfacing, and text colors. Obviously, you lack an eye for good visual design.

Further, craigslist is one of the very few survivors from the very early days of the World Wide Web. Its large audience is in part based on its lengthy history. No website launched today could build up such audience with the same spartan user interface.

JobDrama has zero chance of making a dent in this industry.

  13. This is a start to a new trend. Says:

That may be true, however I think the idea of Jobdrama is innovative. There were job boards before Monster that never went anywhere.

  14. (SNA) Says:

So Trend, you simply don’t have your facts straight. Not only is only is that information publicly available via registration information as you mention, but that specific contact information was used in their web advertising. That’s right, web advertising — publicly available contact information posted next to their ad on the internet, right down to that very yahoo email address. If only you would have looked instead of hiding behind your anonymity trying to stir the pot.

  15. This is a start to a new trend. Shame on you SNA Says:

    Chris Duncan,

You need to get your facts straight!

Nowhere in the web advertising does it have his personal contact information that you put out there for the world to see.

This is the information you posted:

    1. His name.
    2. personal phone number
    3. personal email address
    4. His home address

This is the contact information on his web advertising:

    1. Business email address: customerservice@jobdrama.net
    2. Business Fax number: 313-292-5503

I am just curious what was your reasoning for doing that? Please tell me.

I am still completely baffled as to why you would to that.

I work for an online job board and this morning I sent an email of this blog to my boss who then sent a mass email to the whole company and everyone is just as shocked as I am.

Very unprofessional! I know that none of our employees would ever do anything like that.

  16. unknown Says:

until the website changed within the last few days, SNA was correct that information was available via their website. Much ado about nothing it seems “Trend”

  17. This is a start to a new trend. Shame on you SNA Says:

    yeah suuuurrreeee lol.

Chris Duncan, we are still waiting for your answer as to why you posted someones personal information on the internet???

  18. Deb Says:

So, I’ve been following this discussion and decided to look up the ad due to the clear disconnect between what SNA says is contact information listed on jobdrama.com’s ad and what Trend says SNA wrongly provided to the world. A quick google search turned up the ad for jobdrama.com which is half way down the page.

“Trend”, you are simply wrong. You have gone out of your way to attack Chris’s integrity without knowing the facts, all the while hiding behind anonymous posts. Time to “man up” and apologize publicly.

SNA, you should “Never argue with a moron….it requires that you lower yourself to their level….and they have more experience than you do.”

  19. Curtis Says:

Honestly, I don’t see the website so awful. Homepage Design is a question of taste and I would like to see a critic based on the content or feaures of the site and not only in the design piece. That was completely superfitial.

I tried the site and they had a bunch of features that I don’t see in other social sites and I have been in plenty. I think the software is pretty neat. I guess the software part is responsability of the “powered by rsitez”. Other question is the design of the homepage but hey! I am sure that some people will find the dude droning pretty cool. I do, it catchs my attention.

Finally, I found giving information of the site owner in this tread completely out of context. I don’t care if the info was in the homepage or you need to spend hours for getting it. I don’t understand the point that SNA was trying to make, if any.

“Shame” you should made your case without being behind an anonymous post, you could slam SNA back just for putting this info up without a good reason

  20. This is a start to a new trend. Shame on you SNA Says:

Deb… The link that you provided goes to an image on Imageshack! That is just like Photobucket. You have proved NOTHING! I could have created that image in less then 5 minutes lol.

Send me a link to a live web advertisement with that same info and I will publicly apologize to Chris Duncan. In till then I stand behind everything I have said and still believe what Chris did was completely unnecessary and incredibly unprofessional considering his position with CareerBuilder.

Also, you preach about not lowering yourself to another’s level by arguing with them. I would like to point out that there has been no name calling till you joined the conversation.

Chris… maybe you can give us some insight as to why you did that?

  21. Benny Says:

What a waste of time – I saw the contact info on the other site before it was removed.

Curtis – you’re obviously a shill and your spelling is terrible. Much like JobDrama’s author.

  22. Pete Says:

“shame”, please do us all a favor and visit the web address above the hyperlink in Deb’s post and then get back to us. Here is the link again in case you missed it.
