theladders launches iphone-friendly web site

News

TheLadders, a job site that only posts 100K+ positions, has announced the launch of an iPhone-friendly Web site. Although the language reads “app” in a current promotion to users, it’s in fact a Web site and not an actual iPhone application.

A spokesperson for the company said, “This iPhone-friendly web app makes it easy for you to turn downtime at the airport into productive time for finding your next great $100K+ job. With your Premium subscription, you can search, view and save the jobs you’d like to research more closely and apply to for later.”

A subscription for TheLadders ranges from $30 to $180, depending on how long you wish to remain a member.

Editor’s Note: This post originally reported that TheLadders had launched an iPhone app based on correspondence sent by the company to its users. We’ve edited it, as this is not the case, as the company simply launched an iPhone friendly version of the site and not an actual application.

The term “iPhone App” doesn’t really match what TheLadders launched. An “app”, at least in iPhone world, means an application that’s downloaded from the Apple Store, which involves a lot more time and effort - plus a “go ahead” from Apple - than what TheLadders has launched.

TheLadders has really just started singing about them having a site which is now iPhone-optimized. Kudos to their marketing for phrasing it this way, but this really isn’t news-worth because most industry-leading websites already do this.

And this isn’t even anywhere near being comparable to the CareerBuilder app, which is still the only “iPhone app” that’s out there.

    Eric is correct.

The terminology itself is from The Ladders via a promotional e-mail to their users specifically saying,”From the great minds at TheLadders.com Labs, we’re pleased to bring you our new web application for the iPhone!”

This is indeed, however, an iPhone-friendly Web site and NOT an application.
