BanyanLink, a new career site that says it’s like myspace meets LinkedIn, has announced their official launch to connect college students with career centers and employers.

Students can go to the site and create a profile that includes both professional and personal attributes and can also connect with other students on job tips or collaborate on special projects using Banyan’s social networking platform.

On the web site Banyan says it’s different from other sites that cater to college students because they acknowledge that “the distinction between your personal life and your professional life is not clear-cut.”

“BanyanLink allows students to distinguish themselves amidst a sea of resumes, mitigates the inefficiencies and high costs of recruiting for employers, and enhances the effectiveness of career centers” said Adam Green, a co-founder of BanyanLink. “We use state-of-the-art technology to combine an advanced social networking platform with innovative informational tools, designed to help students progress on their professional aspirations.”

BanyanLink is free for career services and students. Career service professionals can utilize the service to market upcoming recruiting events or to assist employers with on-campus recruiting.

I heard about banyanlink through the NYU career center. I don’t know what NYU was thinking on this project?!?!? Not sure if they created this website or what but it is pointless and not worth your time.
