<description>Nushio Alpha 2.0 does search properly. It provides relevant hits and localized jobs.

There is obviously a lot to do still -- Nushio needs to be everything Indeed is and then add some sort of extra value beyond Indeed.

In my opinion SimplyHired simply doesn&#039;t stack up, but Indeed will be the one to beat. With their salary estimator, their alerts, their ability to handle complex extended Boolean queries, their advanced search capabilities so that I can limit my search terms to certain fields, the ability to use &quot;-&quot; (not) and phrases and limit searches to certain distances from my zip code, the discussion forums (which are underutilized) and additional job resources, searching many corporate websites and niche job boards -- their features rock!

I would love to see someone go beyond them. The biggest weakness Indeed has is that it is not integrated into LinkedIn. Sadly, their inferior competitor SimplyHired holds that honor. I think they could snag that if they wanted to, though. It would greatly benefit both companies.

Expanding even further the sites that Indeed indexes would be great (if any remain), but to be honest the job seeker won&#039;t know the difference. Job seekers can&#039;t tell whether or not you added additional job boards to the mix unless they run the same search on both of your sites and get more hits on yours. Only oddballs like me would do that.

What Nushio -- or any Indeed-competitor wannabe -- really needs is to add some amazing feature that no one has yet thought of -- maybe somehow combining the features of Indeed with the features of LinkedIn and those &quot;eHarmony-ish&quot; career sites. But if you try to tackle the LinkedIn part of that equation, don&#039;t expect that I&#039;m going to abandon my 300 LinkedIn connections to start building somewhere else. Let me preserve my existing network and utilize your service at the same time. LinkedIn incorporates SimplyHired (not vice versa). Couldn&#039;t you incorporate LinkedIn (and not vice versa)?

Good luck, and let me know what you come up with!

<description>I certainly hope this is an Alpha release of Nushio. It is currently pretty useless.

I am in career transition right now and try to keep up with the latest as well as the established job engines.

I have regular searches and alerts that run both on SimplyHired and Indeed.

I ran a simple search for &quot;project manager&quot; -- with the quotes -- in area code 44667 (which is in Northeast Ohio). I received exactly 20 hits. The locations of those hits are listed as:
- MA
- IL
- Kent Council (Evidently in England, the salary is in £)
- NE
- CA
- TX
- MD
- HI
- IA
- NJ
- DE

Not a single one anywhere near Ohio. The relevance of the job titles was OK, but c&#039;mon, only 20 hits when the results are evidently national or international?

For comparison, Indeed returned 59 hits that were legitimately within 25 miles of my zip code. SimplyHired returned one measly hit.

I next tried searching for &quot;customer service&quot; and then for &quot;basket weaver&quot; in 44667 -- each with quotes -- and again received exactly 20 hits each time, again geographically spread out all over the place.

Pressing on, I tried all three of the above searches without quotes. Here are the results:
- Project Manager in 44667:
60 hits, two were in Ohio. They were the exact same position in Cleveland (approximately 50 miles north, which is acceptable). The rest were all over the world.

- Customer Service in 44667:
60 hits, six were in Ohio. Three of them were duplicates (i.e., three unique jobs). Only one was within 60 miles, the other two were well over 100 miles away.

- Basket Weaver in 44667:
60 hits, one in Ohio, 80 miles away.

Finally, just to confirm my suspicions, I tried all of the above searches with the zip code 26330, which is in North Central WV. I got exactly the same hits as before. I also tried replacing the zip code with OH, Ohio, and Orrville, OH. Same thing every time.

Conclusions?
- Search with quotes and you&#039;ll always get exactly 20 hits
- Search without quotes and you&#039;ll always get exactly 60 hits
- The &quot;Where&quot; field is irrelevant

So again, I certainly hope this is an Alpha release of Nushio. It is currently pretty useless.</description>
