american mensa launches job site for brainiacs

News

American Mensa, a high IQ society open to anyone who scores in the top two percent on an accepted, standardized test, has launched American Mensa CareerLink.

The reason for the career site, a spokeperson said, was because recent studies have indicated that many job hunters falsely indicate they are a true member of Mensa. By accessing the site, employers can guarantee that their prospects are, in fact, Mensa members.

In order to access contact information on a resume they find on the site, employers must pay a fee of $20. They also post jobs, which cost $150 for members and $200 for nonmembers.

“American Mensa’s CareerLink will provide our members with a unique opportunity to connect with employers and look at posted jobs in their industry,” said Heather Miller Poirier, Membership Officer of American Mensa. “This service will expose our membership to new jobs that are ideal to their chosen career path, and employers to job candidates who have tested in the top two percent of intelligence in the United States.”

Currently there are around 50,000 Mensa members in the U.S.

JobTarget is providing the career services on the site.

Could this create compliance issues for companies? I don’t know if hiring based on IQ could create some sort of adverse impact, but I hope that employers look into it before posting on Mensa’s site.

    Cool Stuff!

Now that is different and is taking a jobs board “niche” in another direction. Site does not look great aesthetically or even functionally for that matter.. but get the idea .. albeit if it is somewhat elitist :-)

Caveat emptor: This is not an endorsement of the site… I could or could not be a mensa member !!!

    Great find thanks for reporting

Compliance issue for HR, no. Smart, like wealth, is not a suspect criteria for hiring.
