monster report shows drop in european job postings

A new report from Monster Worldwide shows that online job postings have declined in Europe, with the steepest drops recorded in Britain and France.

Overall the Monster Employment Index in Europe declined 6 percent since November 2007.

The index dropped 15 points in France, down 8 percent from a year ago.

The report said the index fell 9 points in Britain, a 19-month low.

While the report noted that healthcare, telecommunications, and government opportunities increased, there was a reduction in opportunities in the automotive, consulting, and agricultural industries.

Italy exhibited the sharpest growth increase at 7 percent from one year ago. Germany also reported a 1 percent gain.
