Job search engine Simply Hired has released their November employment data for occupation and and location searches in the U.S.
The report shows a 27 percent increase in during the two weeks ending November 20, 2008 as opposed to the two weeks ending November 6.
New York topped the list as the city with the most searches, with an increase of 104 percent, followed by Sunnyvale, home of ailing internet giant Yahoo and Symantec, with a percent increase of 67 percent, Sacramento (62 percent), Miami (58 percent) and San Francisco (57 percent).
The presence of certain occupations in searches increased as well, with 20 occupations increasing by 25 percent or more over the two-week periods before Thanksgiving. Searches for entertainment jobs such as actors, athletes, musicians and dancers increased the most (37 percent) followed by searches for math jobs like actuaries, research analysts and statisticians with a one-third increase. Other occupations with an increased presence in searches during November include production workers (32 percent), architectural and civil drafters (30 percent), and hotel jobs (29 percent).

The number of searches decreased in a few cities, including Oakland (-37%), Cincinnati (-21%), and San Jose (-13%).
With regards to occupational searches, construction work and forestry decreased slightly over the two-week periods.

Their listings still receive a “fraction of the action” as compared indeed, AND they are desperate!!!
