Hirewall is a newly-launched competitor in the crowded applicant tracking system market. But founder Tim de Jardine said that his product is different because it pro-actively prompts employees and recruiters engaged in the hiring process to act.

“Hirewall is built around action,” de Jardine said. “The system contains a workflow engine that prompts and drives forward the decision making process, not simply storing information like traditional ATS. It’s about getting that candidate in front of a decision maker.”

De Jardine outlined three areas of e-recruitment that Hirewall addresses: candidate sourcing, hiring management, and decision management.

“Traditionally systems address the sourcing of candidates area,” he said. “This includes storing information and recording progress of an applicant. Some ATS have basic workflow functionality. Hiring and decision management has been left to manual processes, though this is arguably the most important aspect of hiring. The management of the hiring process and how people make decisions and interact is crucial in securing a talented candidate. The ability to act is needed to beat competitors. Having team buy-in during a hire is critical in future integration of the new employee to a team.”

De Jardine calls Hirewall a mashup between task management, project management, and group collaboration that is targeted towards SMBs.

Other points he makes:

  • Simple to use system, no manual, no training required
  • Create and maintain service level agreements with recruiters to track their effectiveness
  • Build up a conversation about a candidate, involve the team and increase integration of new employees
  • No consultancy model, no software bloat
  • User-driven development based on customer feedback
  • Transparency. Hirewall invites everyone in to look around and use a free version of the product to gain user trust. No forms, call backs, or appointments.

Currently Hirewall is available for people in the U.S., Australia, the U.K., and other parts of Europe. A free version of the ATS is available with full functionality but limited storage capabilities. A paid version offering unlimited storage, jobs, and users is available for $49/month.
