According to online publication Diversity Inc., both Yahoo! and Monster have ended or diminished their company diversity initiatives.
Yahoo! sent out this letter to their subscribers in early December:

By December 3, Yahoo!’s company web site no longer mentioned diversity. There is also no mention of diversity on the Yahoo! Careers page either.
Diversity Inc. also performed an evaluation on Monster Worldwide’s corporate web site, which also produced little results. Here is what they found:
*Monster doesn’t mention diversity on its corporate homepage or have a link to it. There is a mention of two pages that were removed.
*Monster has no quote about diversity from its CEO on its corporate web site.
*A search of the corporate web site for diversity turns up a blank page. This was the same in the case of Yahoo!.
*The corporate web site has no images of people with disabilities or LGBT people.
*No listing of awards for diversity initiatives.
Diversity Inc. published this letter from Monster Acting General Counsel Evan Kornrich in response to the article:
The diversity newsletter continues and will be circulated in the coming days as regularly scheduled. The diversity links are prominent throughout Monster’s website. Note please also that when individuals look for employment with Monster itself, they do not go to our general corporate website which you reference. In fact, job seekers go to the Monster.com website. For example, when one clicks on ‘Work for Us’, this takes the seeker to the www.monsterhires.com website. Diversity and Inclusion is prominently displayed on the ‘Why Work With Us’ section. This has been active for the last 2 years. On the actual home page of Monster is diversity search and we have integrated diversity and inclusion into all our core job search and resume application processes. In sum we have placed diversity as part of everything we do and is reflected in our core values, our business and philanthropic efforts.

Vanessa,
I’m curious to know why you didn’t include the retraction that’s now published on the article that expresses their regrets for incorrectly reporting this information.

Diversity Inc. mentions a retraction, reprinted here, about incorrect speculation as to whether Steve Pemberton still works at Monster:
Retraction: This story, originally posted on Dec. 5, incorrectly stated that Steve Pemberton was no longer employed by Monster. DiversityInc had received this information from two reliable sources but had not confirmed it from Monster. Monster subsequently informed us that Pemberton remains its chief diversity officer. DiversityInc regrets this error. The story also discusses Monster’s lack of commitment to diversity on its web site. To be clear, all of those references are to Monster’s corporate web site, corporate.monster.com, not its consumer web site, http://www.monster.com.

I didn’t reprint the retraction because I didn’t even mention Steve Pemberton in the article and found it irrelevant to include this. The other portion discusses references to Monster’s site, which I also published in the article. The retraction does not, however, retract the article itself.

I’m calling BS on this one. You don’t really expect anyone to buy your last comment do you?

It sounds like DiversityInc is just releasing a slam story to try and get Yahoo! and/or Monster to partner with them. It all sounds like a slimey sales ploy. I’m not sure if DiversityInc has an unbiased opinion on this topic.

The Diversity Inc article is hack journalism. Case in point that they didn’t even bother to call Monster to see if Steve Pemberton even worked here anymore. How difficult would that have been to fact check?
Instead of doing their due diligence they just wrote a crap story and ended up having to print a retraction.

And how easy would it have been for Vanessa to update the story. Just another Cheezhead smear. Have some objectivity!!
