While fewer employers posted jobs online last November, fewer people were searching for work.
Beyond.com recently released the results of the November 2008 Milgram Report, which is released every month and collects statistics and data from thousands of niche sites.
The report showed that there was a 13.87 percent decrease in the total number of jobs posted during November 2008 when compared to October and that there also was a 6 percent decrease in the number of resumes posted.
Candidates with 10 to 15 years of experience saw the largest decrease in available jobs at 43.42 percent and every experience level saw a decrease in the number of jobs posted.
The report found that those with:
- less than one year of experience saw a 14.14 percent decrease
- one to three years of experience saw a 38.7 percent decrease
- three to five years of experience saw a 29.43 percent decrease
- five to 10 years of experience saw a 33.75 percent decrease
- 15 to 20 years of experience saw a 21.35 percent decrease
Only those with three to five years of experience saw an increase in the number of resumes posted by .99 percent. Resumes decreased by:
- 4.62 percent for those with less than one year of experience
- 1.19 percent for those with one to three years of experience
- 2.78 percent for those with five to 10 years of experience
- 5.38 for those with 10 to 15 years of experience
- 5.53 for those with 15 to 20 years of experience
The report also found that every experience group had a lower salary expectation when compared to Q3.
The Boston, Mass., metropolitan area saw an 18.63 percent decrease in the number of jobs posted and an 8.57 percent increase in the number of resumes posted. The San Diego, Calif., metropolitan area saw a 14.52 percent decrease in the number of jobs posted and a 26.38 percent increase in the number of resumes posted.
The Orlando, Fla., metropolitan area went against the national trend as it saw an 82.75 percent increase in the number of jobs posted and a .52 percent increase in the number of resumes posted.
