This is undoubtedly one of the worst recessions we will ever see in our lifetime, and lately it seems that no one will emerge unscathed.
Job boards are especially feeling the pinch. Companies who typically budget for job postings and resume database access are trimming such expenditures to remain lean, thus forcing job boards to explore more creative tactics in the hopes of retaining customers.
So here come the deals. Job boards are practically throwing postings and free trials at the public. These are some examples of excellent deals I have come across lately:
Today Beyond.com is offering every company in America a free job posting, no strings attached.
“In tough economic times, it’s not all about downsizing,” said Rich Milgram, CEO of Beyond.com. “Businesses should take a close look at all aspects of their business and take advantage of opportunities that present themselves and provide for long-term gains. By offering a free job posting, we are making it easier for employers to find and acquire quality talent, build a stronger business and play a vital role in stimulating the economy.”
To take advantage of this, employers must visit www.beyond.com/freejobposting.
In partnership with JobTarget, SHRM is offering a job board coupon book that contains over a 1000 coupons from various niche, regional, and general job boards.
Yahoo! Hotjobs is also offering a 15 percent discount on job postings through February 11.
Recently Jobfox was also advertising some hefty savings via ERE.net as well.
Are you aware of any unique tactics job boards are employing to get or retain business? Please feel free to add them in the comments below.

I heard thru the grapevine that JobsGroup.net are offering some great deals on their network of niche jobsites (http://www.JustEngineers.net, http://www.JustConstruction.net etc). They are on 0845 050 2000 in the UK or +44 1524 865 500 outside.

I’ve heard that Jobcircle is in trouble and they have pretty much thrown away their rate cards. They used to have a neat magazine (gone) and big JF’s that are now quite small and only once a month. The lady who was from Monster apparently left as well.
Really a shame, they were a very good company a couple of years back. Hopefully they’ll survive and come back at some point. I may see what they’re offering on postings, has anyone tried their Job Board?

Free or discounted job postings – so what’s the catch? Somebody will inevitably lose for another one’s gain. It would be smart for recruiters who get free postings to write up a complex job description as opposed to suggested buzzwords by the sales people which will return more realistic candidate matches. Nothing is really free anymore.

Does anyone know any good East Coast Job Boards for financial professionals, other than the Monster, CB and HJ?

As was posted to Cheezhead back in November (thank you!), VisualCV’s Career Connection is launched and running and offers a focused, affordable approach for employers…

Here is more specific information for employers on VisualCV.com. Note that all employers can still get a free “Basic” Company VisualCV, and the “Career Connection” account’s no-hire, no-fee approach is certainly a cost-effective one.
