Among the likes of iViioo, Zolio and VisualCV, another company is adding its name to the world of new-age recruiting by using video. However, this one claims to be different.

Talent on View, a new video recruiting site based in the United Kingdom, is hoping to stand out in the world of video CV and resume companies. The site claims to offer a more personal video approach to job seekers, recruiters and employers.

Talent on View was created with the idea of allowing recruiters to send a personalized video interview of a candidate to a client. The site maintains that while the video CV marketplace is already established, it lacks the human interaction that makes an employer want to hire a candidate. Talent on View aims to avoid this by allowing recruiters to present a candidate in any fashion they please.

The site was created in 2008 by business partners Lisa Scales, who worked as a recruitment consultant and has been in the industry for 15 years, and Alexis Twigg, who has a background in Web design, new technologies and information technology. The two found it frustrating that top candidates were being overlooked because of their traditional resumes and cover letters.

“Video is changing and creating industries and shaping the future of the Internet and how people interact and communicate radically,” Twigg said. “We believe the future of recruitment includes video, collaboration and social networking and Talent on View is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Video interviews allow companies to make more informed hiring decisions, cut costs by eliminating lengthy interviews and attract global candidates. One of Talent on View’s Australian clients has reduced its placement cycle from eight to 12 weeks to three to four weeks. Another company plans to avoid paying for 80 international flights each year by using video instead.

Talent on View uses open source software that allows video capture, automatic format conversion, real-time reporting and analysis and global streaming via a content distribution network that combines the Web, video, pictures, SMS and e-mail in a browser fashion.

“We are not just a video CV/resume company; our software is tailored to the recruitment and employment industries, at the moment sold into recruitment agencies, enabling videos of candidates, consultants or corporate videos to be sent to clients or potential clients in a secure and branded way,” Twigg added. “The software can be used for a video CV/resume, a personal statement or a new business tool for the consultant/company.”

Talent on View has future plans to integrate its video technology with several job boards, which would allow companies to create job ads and corporate profiles for little cost. The company also is working on translating its software for the iPhone.
