tribehq: a microblogging platform for occupational groups

Wed, Jan 28, 2009

News

TribeHQ is a new web-based platform that uses microblogging as a foundation to encourage conversation between ‘tribe’ members.

Users can select an occupational tribe that applies to them, such as nursing, engineers, or teachers. Then they are encouraged to form kinships with other tribe members and to discuss career trends or give advice.

But there’s an additional job board component that founders Paul Jacobs and Tim de Jardine created in order to stimulate conversation between occupation groups, candidates, and employers, not unlike an interactive job board.

“The platform also reinvents the way in which employers and candidates connect with each other online using a microblogging concept for online recruitment,” de Jardine said. “Companies can list their vacancies at TribeHQ.com and enter into a direct conversation with potential candidates. We call this ‘micro-jobbing.’”

TribeHQ is set to launch next week.

Thats a very novel concept indeed. Networking is the need of the day and such communities help people advance in their careers through contacts with the right kind of people. However, unusual times demand unusual networking tactics. The bar has been raised on what it takes to make networking work. Found an interesting article about networking well at:
