If you’re a job seeker who wants a new way to prove yourself or an employer who wants skilled workers, zTalent.com may be the solution.

A beta version of zTalent.com, a new community for technical professionals, has launched. The site serves as a place where users can showcase their skills, establish credibility, network with other technical professionals and get noticed by employers and recruiters.

zTalent allows users to showcase their skills from a central profile, which can then be linked to from the user’s signature. This helps employers save time by avoiding the task of reading through resumes and helps job seekers stand out against the competition.

One unique feature of zTalent is the “reputation points” concept. The site gives users access to free tools that help accumulate these points. The points are easy to accumulate and come from a variety of sources, including taking tests that confirm skills and listing skills and accomplishments that can be confirmed by former colleagues.

In a community style that likens sites such as Wikipedia, the skills tests are made up of questions submitted by users. Users also can gain reputation points by contributing test questions. zTalent also has a job board available to members.

Taking into consideration the current state of the economy and the job market, zTalent seems to have an original idea that should help tech professionals market themselves more productively and help employers find workers that have the skills they need.
