By now, I thought I had heard it all: job seekers hocking their skills on eBay for paltry sums, shelling out thousands of dollars for billboard ads, or lining up with thousands of others to pass out a few resumes at a local job fair, all for the sake of gainful employment.

But a story I read today is proving that there is no such thing as limitations when it comes to searching for a job.

Jimmy Cybulski, the proud father of a newborn baby boy, recently lost his Chicago-based job managing a stock room at a manufacturing plant. After sending out hundreds of resumes and receiving few responses, the desperate father decided to take action.

Cybulski placed an ad on Craigslist offering up $500 to the person that helps him find a job.

“I might just get a foot in the door, show my resume and say, ‘hey this is who I am, this is what I do, I’m confident that I’m an employable person,’” Cybulski said.

There’s nothing shady about this deal, the enterprising job seeker reassured. He’s more than willing to sign an agreement stating that he’ll fork over the cash after six months of employment at a stable job.

So far only scam artists have responded to his ad, but Cybulski is hopeful that the right person will read the post and help him earn the money he desperately needs to support his family.

There is a guy in DC who will give up Modest Mouse Tickets if someone can help him find a job. That just seems to be where we are at right now, I guess. But concert tickets and $500 for a job may be getting off easy right now … if it saves you in the long run.
