The current state of the economy has many professionals looking for work and many soon-to-be graduates worried about their future. There is good news for sales professionals, however, as one sales job board has seen an increase in the number of advertised sales jobs.
SalesJobs.net, a Beyond.com career community, recently released a report revealing employment trends among the sales sector. The report found that an increased number of employers are looking to hire sales professionals and many of the jobs require a college degree.
While the economic recession has caused several industries to to see a decline in jobs, SalesJobs.net saw a 9.63 percent increase in the number of sales jobs posted during January when compared to December 2008. At the same time, however, there has been a 27 percent increase in the number of sales professionals looking for a job during the past year.
Of the sales jobs posted during Q4 2008, 67.3 percent of employers were looking for a candidate with less than one year of experience, while 63.4 percent required a candidate with at least a four-year degree.
The top positions for sales jobs during Q4 were sales managers at 67.96 percent, pharmaceutical sales representatives at 14.56 percent and cashiers at 5.44 percent. The top cities for sales jobs were Houston, New York and Chicago.
