BrightFuse, a professional network from CareerBuilder that celebrated its first birthday last February, is touting a handful of new features, including:
1. Add Profile Plug-Ins. Now you can add even more value to your profile with these plug-ins. Choose from RSS or Twitter feeds, share what you’re reading, or showcase a portfolio item.
2. Tag Your Contacts Contacts. Organize your network with tags that you assign, like potential candidates, recruiters, or even industry professionals.
3. Publish Your Profile to Facebook. Let your Facebook friends check out your professional profile by publishing it to your Facebook feed.
4. Send Your Profile to Contacts. Get your profile instant exposure. Send a special email with your personal link to people you know.
In an interview with Cheezhead last October, Richard Castellini, CB’s VP of Consumer Marketing, said the BrightFuse team keeps the network fresh by continually improving upon its existing infrastructure and making changes when appropriate.
“We’re using all of the CareerBuilder weight behind it and pushing it where it’s appropriate,” Castellini said. “We’re still in a beta/alpha-ish phase which is why you haven’t seen us doing a massive amount of press releases or major advertising to promote it. We’re evolving the product every day.”
Their efforts appear to be paying off. Though membership numbers aren’t even close to LinkedIn’s, Compete.com shows that traffic to BrightFuse has increased steadily since its inception and peaked in January 2009 with approximately 305,000 unique visitors per month.
