A major job board (guess who?) has won the Best Employment site of the year in the 2009 Webby People’s Voice Awards.
Monster.com has announced they are the winners of this Webby Award, and in a press release their new job seeker platform was credited for the win.
“Being recognized by the Webby Awards affirms Monster is delivering on its promise to provide the resources that help people find jobs and manage their careers,” said Darko Dejanovic, executive vice president, global chief information officer and head of product, Monster. “We would like to thank everyone who supported Monster as the People’s Voice Award winner — we are honored to be included in such prestigious company.”
“The Webby Awards honors the very best of the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. “Monster’s win is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”
More than 500,000 votes were cast by people around the world for their favorite sites, videos, and ads in The 2009 Webby People’s Voice Awards. A list of both Webby Awards and People’s Voice Awards winners can be found at: http://www.webbyawards.com/webbys/current.php?season=13.
Monster.com will be honored at a star-studded ceremony hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Seth Meyers on June 8 in New York City. On June 9, fans will be able to watch the ceremony, including Monster’s five-word acceptance speech, at the official Webby Awards YouTube Channel.

Who submits sites for awards anymore? That was interesting a decade ago, maybe, but not now.
The Webbys is not an open contest – entrants have to pay to be considered. Well, at least one site is out there seeking attention. I wonder how many of the other favorites thought that was important to do.
