Here’s an unusual story of how a job board began.
When Nathalie Watson needed to find a job, she asked her husband, Kevin – who just happens to be a computer programmer for Fortune 500 companies – to create a program that would send job leads to her. The final product helped her find a job within two weeks.
Because of the site’s personal success, the couple has launched Nat’s Jobs.com for public use. The site is designed to reduce the overall time you spend searching for a job. It looks through thousands of RSS feeds from government, recruiting agencies and corporation sites. After five weeks, the site has been seeing 20,000 visitors per day and about 300 new visitors each day.
Users must submit their e-mail address in order to receive a customized job report, which usually contains hyperlinks to more than 100 new job postings per day. The service is free for the first two weeks. If users don’t find a job within those two weeks and still want to receive the hyperlinks to the original job postings, they must purchase a subscription, which costs 2 cents per day. However, users can continue to receive a free e-mail that simply lists what jobs are available.
