Derek Mercer, the creator of Vurv Technology, has purchased ATS Services and Dunhill Staffing, a Jacksonville-based staffing and employment services company.
Mercer is the nephew of ATS founder Delores Kesler. He will serve as chair of the new company, now called Talagy, while Kesler will retain the title of chairman emeritus. Amy McGeorge will assume the role of president and CEO. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
“This is an exciting time in the growth and evolution of ATS, and I’m pleased to allow the next generation of leadership to take the helm,” said Kesler.
According to BizJournals.com, Kesler created Jacksonville-based ATS Services in 1977, eventually forming a parent company that merged with three other staffing firms, including Dunhill Staffing Systems. The business split into two ventures: AccuStaff, which became a publicly traded company and is now Modis/MPS Group, and ATS Services.
Mercer worked as the director of information technology at ATS Services before creating his own company, Vurv Technology, a global provider of on-demand talent management software, in 1996. Kesler provided a loan that helped start the company. Vurv Technology was acquired by Taleo in 2008 for $128.8 million.
Talagy, which has 11 offices around the country and 80 employees, will continue to offer the same products and services, but instead of operating under multiple brands and business units the company will consolidate into a single brand.
