A new service provider search engine called JobVid.com has launched. The idea of a candidate search engine was created and conceptualized from its nascent phase to become the newly-crowned winner of Tufts University’s business plan competition.
Founder David Glazier describes it like this:
JobVid provides users with a platform to advertise their skill sets as well as their personalities through creating compact, visually appealing profiles. Imagine an online job-classified website designed to enable self-expression and individualization. Anyone in need of a particular talent or service is able to access this database of profiles and efficiently find the right person with the right skills.
Users can create online profiles that will match their skills to companies looking for part-time, freelance, or contract services. They can also embed a customizable three-month calendar along with a photo gallery to visually enhance their profile.
The site has about 75 job categories and 1,600 job skills that are accessible from a drop-down menu. Posting profiles and searching candidates are free, and JobVid keeps email addresses randomized for privacy reasons.
So how did the site get its name? JobVid.com claims to be the first service provider website to strongly encourage personal statement videos, in which service providers introduce themselves and/or display essential job skills to prospective customers and clients.
