According to CityFile.com of New York, Citigroup’s team of attorneys have filed a lawsuit against Affinity Labs, a division of Monster, with regards to a website called Womenco.com.
Womenco, which is owned by Monster, is a networking site for career-minded women, and Citigroup says the website name violates a trademark against Citi’s female-centric money management business called Women & Co.
Apparently the bank thinks the public will confuse its women with Monster’s women, so they slapped the company with a lawsuit on Monday, arguing that WomenCo.com is threatening its status as “one of the largest and most renowned banking and financial institutions in the United States and throughout the world.” Citigroup also claims that the site in question has caused them ‘irreparable harm.’
Prior to filing the lawsuit, Citigroup asked Affinity Labs to cease use of the name, which Affinity Labs refused to do. The lawsuit is asking Affinity Labs to transfer the Womenco.com domain name to Citigroup, plus the bank is requesting that all profits the site incurred be passed on to them as well.

So let me get this straight. Citigroup which had to be bailed out by the government is using tax payer dollars to sue a site which helps people get jobs and education? Classy.
