LinkedIn, an online professional network, has launched Dynamic Refinements, the newest feature from LinkedIn Recruiter, which is a service that helps recruiters source for passive and active candidates in the network’s database.
The new Dynamic Refinements provides recruiters filters to refine candidate searches and drill down results to the expertise, geography, education and industry background.
A LinkedIn spokesperson said that Dynamic Refinements makes searching for candidate faster, more intuitive and allows recruiters to source ideal passive candidates in fewer clicks and less time than ever. It also provides guided navigation throughout the search and eliminates the need to construct complex boolean queries.
“The new search technology and capabilities come at a time when recruiters are fully recognizing the value of passive candidates,” said Francois Dufour, LinkedIn’s Senior Director of Enterprise Marketing. “Our recent research shows that 60% of recruiters believe they get better hires when hiring passive talent and an overwhelming majority of recruiters are using LinkedIn to find passive candidates for job opportunities.”

LinkedIn is putting up a good marketing spin to their job board service. In reality they don’t work as they project..
LinkedIn in contrast to resource sources such as Monster, Dice, CareerBuilder, etc is not a resume source. It is just a starting point in your quest for getting in touch with a potential candidate. Based on my experience the odds of making the placement for a hard-to-fill job using LinkedIn is 1 in 100. Traditional jobboards can deliver 1 in 50.
The cost (time and $s) for presenting a candidate from LinkedIn is 5-10 times higher than that of jobboards.
WizTalent (recruiting software from WizioTec) brings down the cost of sourcing from LinkedIn comparable to traditional jobboards.
