Employers and job seekers in Ohio now have access to a one-stop career site powered by one of the world’s largest job boards.

OhioMeansJobs.com, the career site run by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, has partnered with Monster.com to help better serve employers and job seekers. This makes Ohio the only state in the nation to have such a partnership.

The service will cost the state $2.5 million for the first year and about $1.7 million each year after that. Monster won a competitive procurement to partner with the state for the next two years, with the ability to renew the partnership annually.

For job seekers, the site will index 8,000 job boards and will be easier to navigate. Any resume that job seekers post on the site also will be posted to Monster.com.

The site is available to any employer who pays taxes in Ohio and employers who use the site will have access to about 8 million resumes and be able to post jobs at no additional cost. The Web site will offer new or updated resumes from job seekers living within a 50-mile radius of Ohio. ODJFS also purchased access to resumes of job seekers who live elsewhere but have indicated they would be willing to relocate to Ohio.

When posting open positions, the site provides employers the ability to focus on specific characteristics they seek in a potential employee, such as skill set, educational institution they attended and proximity of their residence.

The site is also partnered with Indeed.com, which offers two free options to employers. You can choose a “quick post” option, which allows you to post a job notice without registering, but the posted opportunity can’t be edited and will only be posted for 30 days. Employers also can choose an “advanced post” option, which allows you to edit and manage posted opportunities and list them for longer than 30 days, but only after you register your business.

Employers also gain access to the Ohio Business Gateway, which allows businesses to use electronic filing to submit selected filings, registrations and payments with the state’s Department of Taxation, Bureau of Worker’s Compensation, Department of Job and Family Services, Office of Budget and Management and Department of Commerce, as well as file and pay selected state municipal income taxes.
