The Search Game: Win, Lose, or Draw?

By Jason Carr - By now you have probably heard all about the Microsoft - Yahoo search deal (if not, we have a summary of the deal up on the HirePPC blog). Pending regulatory approval, Microsoft's Bing will become Yahoo's search engine and Microsoft's AdCenter will run the PPC ads. Yahoo will sell to the premium advertisers and turn their attention toward expanding their display advertising and content empire. It all sounded wonderful in the press release, but not everyone bought that line. Yahoo's stock price dropped about 10% after the anouncement. So if the deal isn't all roses, the question is, who wins and who loses?

If so, a new government program could help you get your foot in the door to a cool cybersecurity job. Think of it like a bootcamp for the tech-savvy, only if you do well, you could end up with scholarships or a position within a government agency or private company. Several groups have already teamed up to offer this program.

By William Tincup - You know that Apple commercial from the 80’s where the lady (who was strangely buff and hot at the same time) runs up an aisle in a tank top and chunks a sledgehammer at a massive TV screen? Yeah, this is kinda gonna be like that ... I propose that the current ATS model is broken. I propose that a central repository of data made up from collected resumes is a poor way to comb through and assess talent. I propose that once many of you reading this stop sticking your William Tincup voodoo dolls with pins, you’ll see my point. Allow me to elaborate.
