Articles

For the day leading into a holiday weekend, there is a lot of linky goodness out there:

  1. Microsoft Adds Some Twitter Updates to Bing Search – In a nod to the increasing importance of real-time search, Microsoft has started adding Twitter updates to its Bing search engine.
  2. Google News Drops Controversial Comments Feature – Predictions stating “the comments section is likely to be larded with spin, hype and obfuscation” were unfounded. A lack of commentary likely killed this beast.
  3. How TMZ Gets ScoopsTMZ, which is as voyeristic as it is speedy, has become one of the world’s most quoted sources of entertainment news, with rival sites, TV channels and traditional gossip columns, such as the New York Post’s infamous Page Six, quoting it regularly. Someone called us “the TMZ of the employment industry” … guess that’s a step up from “the Perez Hilton.”
  4. Early Returns for US Search Traffic Are In. Bing! – Reuters says Microsoft’s Bing gained in marketshare and Google slipped and ‘The results may give heart to Microsoft, which is investing heavily in its loss-making online services business and is refusing to cede the market to Google.’ Not so fast.
  5. ‘Economy to Stay Week ‘For A Number of Years” – Unemployment hits 9.5 percent on worse than expected numbers. Wall Street pro says we’re going to be f’d for awhile.

Happy 4th!
