What exactly is causing the growing trend in corporate America’s use of video interviewing during the hiring process? According to HireVue COO Chip Luman, it’s simple economics that continues to drive interest.
Luman was recently interviewed on two nationally syndicated radio shows, The Big Biz Show with Bob “Sully” Sullivan and Russ T. Nailz and HeadHunter Radio with Cecelia Gonzalez, during which time he shared his thoughts on the subject.
“Companies are seeing a 3 to 10X savings in the hiring process by using HireVue,” Luman said on HeadHunter Radio. “They’re looking for ways to make it easier for their HR professionals to get information to hiring managers, ultimately resulting in faster and better hires.”
HireVue, which was founded in 2004, developed the industry’s first Internet-based employer driven video interviewing solution. The company has now delivered the service to more than 85 countries throughout the world. HireVue argues that video interviews eliminate travel costs, reduce recruitment time and allow hiring managers to view applicants’ interviews at their own convenience.
Human Capital analyst Dr. John Sullivan recently released a report on video interviewing, which became a topic of discussion on The Big Biz Show. In the report, Sullivan predicted that within a few years, the “interview from anywhere” approach will become the standard practice for all but final hiring interviews.
“Literally hundreds of firms have already begun using video interviews, and usage patterns are climbing at a significant pace,” he said.
