HRM Today will soon go up on the auction block, but in an interesting way, as the site will be sold through eBay.
The auction is scheduled to begin on August 5th. The site chose eBay as its place of auction in order to keep with the online community’s vision of elevating the human resources profession through the use of Web 2.0 technology.
The eBay auction will last 10 days and include hrmtoday.com, blogs.hrmtoday.com and network.hrmtoday.com, as well as archived user data. There will be no reserve.
HRM Today is a wide-ranging network of collaborative, multi-author blogs, events, forums and groups. The site currently has about 1,200 members and a strong presence on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, with more than 1,700 followers.
“We’re amazed at the organic growth of HRM Today since we started it last year,” Co-Owner Laurie Ruettimann said.
She, along with partner Lance Haun, believe the auction will appeal to human resources professionals, associations or vendors who have strong IT infrastructures.
“The site is poised for the next level,” Ruettimann said. “Fresh ideas and framework will no doubt expand the community and translate into additional growth and revenue.”
Ruettimann is the founder of Punk Rock HR and an SPHR certified human resources professional with more than 10 years in the corporate HR departments of Fortune 500 companies. Haun has been a human resources generalist for more than five years. His blog, YourHRGuy.com, tackles workplace issues by giving employees the inside scoop on how the HR department runs.
