Almost half of the workers employed as executives are unhappy with their current jobs.
The Korn/Ferry Institute’s recent International Executive Quiz found that 47 percent of employed executives are either somewhat or very dissatisfied with their current position. Of those surveyed, 45 percent said employee morale within the company was either “fair” or “poor”, 42 percent said it was “good” and only 13 percent said it was “outstanding.”
A lack of trust in company leaders could be contributing to low morale. Although about three-quarters of respondents gave their boss favorable performance ratings of average or better, 31 percent of executives said they did not trust their boss.
In addition, about 36 percent of respondents said they do not trust their company’s chief executive. When asked if their current CEO was the best person for the job, only 38 percent of executives said “absolutely,” while 34 percent said “somewhat” and 28 percent said “not at all.”
“Maintaining high employee morale is one of the most significant challenges facing organizations in today’s economic environment,” Ana Dutra, president and chief executive officer of Korn/Ferry Leadership and Talent Consulting, said.
The quiz, which is based on a global survey of executives registered within the Korn/Ferry online executive center, took place from May to June and included respondents from 70 countries.
