At the end of last week, the New York Times reported that Craigslist quietly added 140 new cities. The news was so hush-hush, in fact, that a Craigslist spokesperson implied not even Craig Newmark, the site’s founder, was aware of the changes.
Eighty-seven new cities made the U.S. list, including dozens of small to midsize cities like Susanville, Calif., Oneonta, NY, and the counties of Okaloosa and Walton, FL.
Eight cities were added in Canada.
Craigslist also launched new sites for international cities like Lucknow, India, Shenzhen, China, and Newcastle, Australia.

I think Facebook is going to give Craigslist a great run in this market. Give it time. With relationships in play, everything becomes easier (and if they can figure out easy payments).
