ning’s worst nightmare: myspace opening-up

May 8th, 2008

I get asked on a regular basis why I haven’t plugged-in a social network or community into Cheezhead. (”The pageviews are crazy, dude!”) Granted, I dabble in Facebook, but I haven’t infiltrated the main site with user profiles to date. With Ning sites popping-up faster than Roger Clemens accusers, it’s a fair question. And one […]

simply hired first (and only?) job app on myspace

March 13th, 2008

Not surprisingly, MySpace partner Simply Hired is the first job site to launch an application on the popular social network via OpenSocial.

There are only 14 installs so far, but it’s very early. We’ll see if more job seekers jump on board in the months to come. If Facebook is any precedent, few MySpacers will add […]

February 28th, 2008

Google’s rebranded launch of Jotspot as Google Sites is fairly intriguing as an opening act. Think wiki meets Facebook meets Blogger. Techcrunch, as usual, has a good breakdown.

Hulu can be best summed up as big media’s strike against YouTube. By creating a site where viewers can checkout The Simpsons or SNL […]

there’s gold in that there microblogging

December 18th, 2007

Thanks to Facebook mobile, I finally get it.
Microblogging, the art of posting content at no more than a small number of characters at a time (say 200 or less) and made famous by Twitter, was a complete mystery to me when first introduced by the big win at last year’s SXSW.
I soon thereafter joined the […]

indeed advertising on simply hired … sort of

December 18th, 2007

I was amused seeing an Indeed.com ad show-up on MySpace jobs, powered by Simply Hired. Of course, I’m also amused by Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, so take it for what’s it’s worth.

Keep in mind, Google powers the ads on MySpace. So, even though the ability to filter out such competitors exists, it’s doubtful Simply […]
