indeed.com adds video to employer profiles

April 1st, 2008

We learned last night that Indeed.com has added video to many of its company profile pages. Checkout American Express and its subsequent video page.
The lion’s share of content is taken from Jobing, which, according to Rony Kahan, cofounder of Indeed, has “a lot of videos.” And with Jobing’s embed code, their videos are easily added. […]

simply hired first (and only?) job app on myspace

March 13th, 2008

Not surprisingly, MySpace partner Simply Hired is the first job site to launch an application on the popular social network via OpenSocial.

There are only 14 installs so far, but it’s very early. We’ll see if more job seekers jump on board in the months to come. If Facebook is any precedent, few MySpacers will add […]

simply hired’s linkedin integration is pretty cool

March 12th, 2008

Simply Hired - who we haven’t talked about in awhile - is now integrating LinkedIn contact information into its job search. Just click the blue “in” icon.

Says Sachin Shah, Simply Hired’s director of product management:

As you know, we always had a ‘Who Do I Know’ link which would take you off to LinkedIn’s site, and […]

The asterisk means “the market share of visits percentage does not include traffic for all sub-domains … which are reported on separately.” Click here for more.
In addition to that news, Hitwise helped shed […]

January 17th, 2008

With Monster throwing money at them, there are bound to be more job sites adding a little social networking flavor to their usual offerings. Vertical job search engine GetTheJob.com may be next on the bandwagon.

Says CEO Chris Amato:
Our profiles encourage users to add some personal information about their background without adding any information that could […]

permalinks: another reason to hate vertical search

January 15th, 2008

Consider the typical Google experience: Type in query, click search, see results, click and go directly to site. Pretty cut-and-dry. And, for the most part, everyone’s happy.
Now, imagine if - in addition to the process above - Google actually took a portion of your on-page content, say 1,000 characters or so, and made their own […]

edgeio sells for meager $280,000

December 21st, 2007

Like many in the online classifieds space, I watched the recent auction of Edgeio with great curiosity. The bidding ended today with Looksmart acquiring “most” of the assets for only $280,000. There were just two serious bidders in the process.
I’m not sure this is a good sign for others in the same category. If a […]
